The Multi-Disciplinary Divisional Training Institute (MDDTI) cum CBT Centre at Beliaghata, Sealdah, was recently inaugurated by Eastern Railway’s General Manager, Milind Deouskar. This initiative aims to boost safety, efficiency, and workforce skills in train operations. It is the first MDDTI in Eastern Railway and one of only seven such specialized training centers in Indian Railways.
The upgraded facility has been transformed into a futuristic training hub to prepare a skilled workforce for a “Viksit Railway-Viksit Bharat.” It will be led by a principal of gazetted rank and expert instructors in various railway operation domains. The institute will provide advanced technical training to frontline staff in core branches like Operating, Engineering, Signal & Telecommunication, Electrical, and Stores to enhance operational security.
Deouskar introduced modern amenities at the institute, including a digital smart class and plans for a computer-based testing room. A Train Information Display Board Lab Room has also been launched to enhance technical skills. The campus now features an 80-bedded hostel, cafeteria, library, Wi-Fi, and examination facilities, serving as a Computer Based Test and Tab Based Test center.
The institute has conducted numerous departmental promotional examinations, assessing candidates for critical safety and administrative roles. Employees in the Sealdah Division are utilizing the iGOT platform for online learning. Future plans involve projects for a simulator building, motion simulator for driver training, and a sophisticated S&T Model Room with advanced signaling equipment.
