The Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission – Gramin (VB-G RAM G) Act, focusing on enhancing rural livelihoods through increased wages and assured employment, has been implemented nationwide starting Wednesday.
Under this Act, eligible rural households are entitled to 125 days of guaranteed wage employment, aiming to improve rural employment effectiveness, transparency, and outcome orientation. The Act also aims to expedite the creation of sustainable rural assets, natural resource conservation, agricultural productivity enhancement, livelihood promotion, and women-led development.
The Government of India has announced revised wage rates under the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025 for all regions, ensuring that no daily wage falls below Rs 300 across the country. The national average wage has risen from Rs 298.8 to Rs 327.4 per day, indicating an average increase of over 10 percent.
Various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh, have witnessed wage hikes ranging from 15 to 25 percent. To support the seamless implementation of the Act, the government has allocated Rs 95,692.31 crore to states and union territories for continuous employment generation, timely wage disbursement, and project execution.
Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized that the VB-G RAM G Act, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, signifies a significant step towards ensuring dignity, self-respect, and livelihood security for rural workers. He highlighted the completion of all necessary preparations by the Centre and states for the Act’s successful launch.
Chouhan expressed confidence in the initiative’s ability to create new livelihood opportunities, strengthen women’s empowerment, and advance the vision of a self-reliant rural India. He urged citizens to join hands in building prosperous and self-reliant villages.
A National Launch Programme for the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025, is scheduled for July 2, 2026, in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati District.
