New Zealand’s Minister for Trade and Investment, Hon Todd McClay, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to New Zealand as a significant milestone. He emphasized the importance of this visit following the recent signing of the India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA). McClay mentioned that the FTA would open up new opportunities in trade, technology, agriculture, and investment, enhancing cooperation amid global uncertainties.
Describing Prime Minister Modi’s visit as historic, McClay highlighted that it marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in 40 years. He mentioned the enthusiasm among New Zealanders, especially the Indian diaspora, in welcoming Prime Minister Modi. The FTA is expected to strengthen trade ties between the two countries, particularly in emerging technologies like critical minerals and MSMEs.
