New Zealand spinner Cole McConchie expressed satisfaction with his performance in the Men’s T20 World Cup semifinal against South Africa, where he was brought into the team on short notice. McConchie’s off-spin proved effective in countering South Africa’s left-handed batters, leading to the dismissals of Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton in the second over, helping the Blackcaps restrict South Africa to 169/8.
“We discussed it over the last couple of days, but the decision was finalized just before warm-ups. It feels good to contribute and set the tone,” McConchie mentioned during the innings break. Reflecting on his preparation for the crucial match, he acknowledged feeling nervous but was glad to have the opportunity to make a difference with a couple of wickets.
When asked about New Zealand’s satisfaction with the target set by South Africa, McConchie stated, “I believe so. The stats might suggest a slightly higher score, but with our strong bowling attack, we need to be at our best. Nonetheless, we are content with the start.”
