Kayley Knight has been named in the 13-member New Zealand Women’s squad set to face South Africa in the upcoming ODI series. The squad, led by Amelia Kerr, sees the return of Suzie Bates, Flora Devonshire, and Georgia Plimmer from injury, replacing Emma McLeod, Polly Inglis, and Bella James, while Knight takes Molly Penfold’s place.
Knight, who recently debuted in T20 internationals against Zimbabwe, impressed with her performance, claiming wickets both internationally and domestically. The 22-year-old played a crucial role in Northern Brave’s Hallyburton Johnstone (HBJ) Shield triumph, emerging as the team’s second-highest wicket-taker.
Coach Ben Sawyer expressed his excitement about Knight’s inclusion, praising her pace, control, and bowling skills. The series against South Africa will be the White Ferns’ final home matches for the season, starting on March 29 at Hagley Oval and concluding on April 4 at Cello Basin Reserve.
Sawyer emphasized the team’s eagerness to end the season on a high note, following their successful T20 series. The squad, featuring players like Amelia Kerr, Suzie Bates, and Rosemary Mair, aims to continue their winning momentum in the upcoming ODIs.
