A newborn baby was discovered abandoned on the floor of a bathroom outside Ward No. 40 at Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, Mumbai. The infant’s cries caught the attention of passersby, leading to the rescue that averted a tragedy. This incident caused alarm among hospital staff and the police.
The Tilak Nagar Police have initiated a search for the unidentified woman who allegedly left the child after giving birth. Police Constable Jitendra Vishnu Patil, stationed at Tilak Nagar Police Station, was informed by a distressed individual about the newborn’s presence in the hospital bathroom on the night of May 25.
Upon receiving the distressing news, Constable Patil hurried to the scene and found the helpless infant crying on the cold bathroom floor. Prompt action by hospital nurses, aided by the alert individual, ensured the baby’s quick rescue, cleaning, and transfer to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Doctors confirmed that timely medical attention saved the child’s life, and the infant is currently in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that no official hospital records indicate a woman giving birth during that time. Investigators suspect that an unknown woman delivered the baby in the hospital bathroom, abandoned him, and left unnoticed. The police have launched a search for the woman, reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital premises to identify her.
The newborn is receiving medical care and is reported to be safe. The police are actively pursuing leads to locate the woman responsible for abandoning the child.
