Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath to seven newly elected/re-elected members of the Upper House at Parliament House. Among them were Tarun Chugh from Madhya Pradesh, Jitendra Meghjibhai Kanzariya, and Mansingh Meraman Parmar from Gujarat, M. Nagaraja from Karnataka, Rajendra Hiralal Jain from Maharashtra, Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi alias Maimom Sharda Devi from Manipur, and Alka Singh from Rajasthan. Before taking the oath, Tarun Chugh visited Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib to seek blessings.
Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge also took the oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by prominent leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, J.P. Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Harivansh. Kharge expressed gratitude for the support received and emphasized the Opposition’s commitment to addressing public concerns in Parliament.
Kharge thanked various party members and supporters for their encouragement throughout his public service. He highlighted the importance of cooperation among political parties in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament to ensure government accountability. The Opposition’s focus remains on representing the people’s issues and ensuring their voices are heard in the legislative process.
