The Boregaon to Shahpur section of NH‑753L, a 47 km four-lane corridor under Bharatmala Pariyojana, is nearly 85% finished, aiming to enhance connectivity between Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. This corridor, costing Rs 944 crore, will serve as a crucial link connecting Indore, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Jalgaon, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, according to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
The project traverses agriculturally productive areas known for cultivating crops like banana, cotton, soybean, and wheat. Improved roads mean quicker market access and reduced transportation expenses for local farmers and transporters. The corridor features various infrastructure elements, including bridges, culverts, and underpasses, along with 19 km of service roads to ensure safe and convenient travel for local traffic.
Khandwa and Burhanpur, major banana producers, dispatch over 1.7 million metric tonnes of bananas annually to markets, facing transportation challenges due to inadequate roads. The new highway is anticipated to alleviate these issues, offering faster travel times and reduced transportation costs. Local stakeholders believe that the completed project will significantly enhance connectivity within the region, benefiting businesses, emergency travel, and daily commuters alike.
