The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges against five individuals, including Anand Kumar Singh, in a case involving human trafficking and cyber slavery linked to Cambodia. Anand and four others have been accused under relevant sections of the IPC in a chargesheet submitted to the NIA Special Court in Patna, Bihar. Three of the accused were arrested in February after returning from Cambodia, while the fifth accused is currently out on bail.
The accused were allegedly part of an organized human trafficking network that enticed Indian youths with promises of legitimate jobs and good pay in Cambodia. Upon arrival, the victims reportedly had their passports seized and were coerced to work for fraudulent companies. NIA investigations revealed that Anand Kumar Singh was the main orchestrator of the operation, recruiting youths through various agents in India and collaborating with associates in Cambodia to traffic victims illegally.
Anand Kumar Singh allegedly charged $2,000-$3,000 for each youth sent to a fictitious company. The investigation to uncover other syndicate members and fully understand the conspiracy in this case is ongoing.
