The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against Shaik Amanulla alias Abubakar Siddique in a case involving the discovery of explosives at his residence in Andhra Pradesh. Shaik Amanulla faces charges under various acts including UA(P) Act, BNS, Explosive Substances Act 1908, and Arms Act, as per the NIA Special Court in Vijayawada.
Abubakar Siddique, who had been residing in Rayachoty town of Annamayya district under a false identity since fleeing Tamil Nadu in 1999, was found to be wanted in 14 criminal cases in Tamil Nadu. Initially arrested by Tamil Nadu police in July 2025, he was later apprehended by Andhra Pradesh police in August 2025 for the possession of explosives, a case subsequently taken over by the NIA.
NIA’s investigation uncovered that the accused possessed illegal explosives and arms with the intent of carrying out terrorist activities. He was actively involved in planning such acts, including target selection, radicalization, recruitment of susceptible individuals, and training in making IEDs. The accused was previously involved in various criminal activities in Tamil Nadu, such as sending parcel bombs, planting explosives, and perpetrating political assassinations.
The NIA has stated that the investigation into the case is ongoing.
