The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out search operations in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Maharashtra in connection with a case involving the smuggling of arms, ammunition, and IEDs across the Indo-Pak border. A total of 12 locations were searched, leading to the seizure of numerous digital devices. These devices will undergo forensic analysis to uncover the full extent of the terror plot.
Several digital devices were confiscated during the coordinated search, with investigators hoping to extract vital information from them regarding the communication among the accused individuals involved in planning IED explosions nationwide. The case traces back to February this year when a person was apprehended in possession of an improvised explosive device (IED) in Amritsar, Punjab. Subsequently, multiple charges were filed under various acts.
The NIA’s investigation revealed that the smuggling operation aimed to execute IED blasts in Punjab, Delhi, and other parts of India, posing a significant threat to life and property. It was also discovered that the arrested individual had connections with several people across the country to incite terror and violence. Efforts are underway to identify additional domestic and international elements linked to the conspiracy.
