Mumbai, Aug 2 (IANS) Nine of India’s 10 most-valued companies together added Rs 2.51 lakh crore in market capitalisation last week, driven by a strong rally in the domestic equity markets.

The gains came as benchmark indices ended the week on a strong note. The Sensex advanced 2,034.87 points, or 2.67 per cent, while the Nifty climbed 616.15 points, or 2.59 per cent.

Among the top-10 companies by market value, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) posted gains in their market valuations.

Hindustan Unilever was the only company in the top-10 pack to witness a decline.

Bajaj Finance recorded the sharpest rise in market capitalisation, with its valuation increasing by Rs 80,345.97 crore to Rs 7,10,817.51 crore.

The rally came after the non-banking financial company reported a 28 per cent year-on-year increase in consolidated profit after tax for the June quarter of FY27, prompting its shares to end more than 8 per cent higher on Friday.

Bharti Airtel’s market valuation surged by Rs 44,959.5 crore to Rs 12,30,005.63 crore, while TCS added Rs 40,414.03 crore, taking its market capitalisation to Rs 8,55,894.78 crore.

Reliance Industries also registered a strong gain, with its valuation rising by Rs 39,447.35 crore to Rs 17,69,108.79 crore.

Larsen & Toubro’s market capitalisation increased by Rs 21,096.8 crore to Rs 5,41,844.69 crore, while SBI added Rs 10,845.97 crore to reach Rs 9,47,799.81 crore.

HDFC Bank’s valuation rose by Rs 8,164.73 crore to Rs 11,52,150.63 crore.

LIC’s market capitalisation climbed by Rs 4,427.49 crore to Rs 5,37,435.05 crore, while ICICI Bank added Rs 1,660.37 crore, taking its valuation to Rs 10,29,878.30 crore.

In contrast, Hindustan Unilever’s market capitalisation declined by Rs 10,326.46 crore to Rs 4,93,602.13 crore, making it the lone laggard among the country’s 10 most-valued firms during the week.

At the end of the week, Reliance Industries retained its position as India’s most-valued company, followed by Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI, TCS, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, LIC and Hindustan Unilever.
