Authorities in Srinagar announced on Saturday that the international airport will not undergo a complete shutdown this year. The airport will remain operational every day from 0800 hrs to 1700 hrs, with night closures for runway maintenance until October 2026.
Previously planned full runway closures on Mondays and Tuesdays have been canceled. Airlines will adjust their schedules to match the new operational timings. Passengers are advised to verify their flight status with airlines before heading to the airport and rely on official updates only.
Instead of a fortnight-long closure after October 16, runway maintenance will now occur daily after flight operations cease and before they resume the next day. Srinagar Airport typically handles 60 to 70 commercial flights daily, increasing to over 100 during peak tourist seasons. The Srinagar-Delhi route is the busiest, accounting for more than half of all weekly departures.
Five major domestic airlines, including IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, Air India Express, and Akasa Air, operate at Srinagar Airport, offering direct flights to various Indian cities.
