North Korean leader Kim Jong-un supervised a test launch of long-range strategic cruise missiles, emphasizing the continuous development of the country’s nuclear combat capabilities. The drill, conducted in the Yellow Sea, showcased the reliability and readiness of North Korea’s strategic counterattack capabilities, as reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
The strategic cruise missiles followed a specific flight path for over 10,000 seconds before hitting their target accurately. Kim Jong-un reiterated the commitment of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the DPRK government to the ongoing enhancement of the state’s nuclear combat strength. He highlighted the need to regularly assess the reliability and swift response of North Korea’s nuclear deterrent components due to various security challenges faced by Pyongyang.
South Korea’s military observed the launch of multiple missiles from the Sunan area near Pyongyang, indicating a potential for further missile tests by North Korea. This recent missile launch comes after Kim Jong-un oversaw the testing of new long-range anti-air missiles in the East Sea earlier. In preparation for the upcoming party congress, Kim has been inspecting military facilities to showcase the country’s achievements in the defense sector.
