In a significant effort to enhance punctuality and streamline operations, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has adjusted the schedules of more than 80 train services across its network. The revisions, effective from April 30, 2026, encompass various mail, express, passenger, Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DMU), and long-distance trains. These changes aim to benefit passengers by providing greater convenience while traveling in Assam, other Northeastern states, and adjoining regions.
The updated schedules, a part of the ongoing initiatives to boost punctuality and operational efficiency, include key trains within the Northeast Frontier Railway zone. Notable services like the Naharlagun-Guwahati Shatabdi Express, Anand Vihar-Agartala Tejas Rajdhani Express, and Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express are among those with revised timings. Stations such as Guwahati, Kamakhya, and Dibrugarh have also seen adjustments to facilitate smoother train movements.
Moreover, passenger and DMU services in Assam and Tripura have been rescheduled to ensure improved connectivity and operational efficiency. These changes are anticipated to minimize delays, enhance time management, and elevate punctuality for passengers traveling both short and long distances. The NFR aims to maintain better connectivity at major junctions and terminals, thereby optimizing overall train operations in the region.
Travelers are advised to check the revised train timings via the National Train Enquiry System (NTES), Passenger Reservation System (PRS) inquiry platforms, or nearby railway stations before embarking on their journeys. Headquartered near Guwahati, the Northeast Frontier Railway operates in the Northeastern states, seven districts of West Bengal, and five districts of north Bihar.
