The match kicked off energetically, with NorthEast taking the lead early on through a well-executed play by Jairo Samperio, capitalizing on a precise cross from Jithin MS.
Throughout the game, NorthEast continued to pose a threat, with notable attempts from Tondonba Singh and Thoi Singh Huidrom, while Chennaiyin struggled to create clear chances despite dominating midfield possession. The hosts further solidified their lead just before halftime, with Jairo capitalizing on a defensive error to make it 2-0 at the break.
