Novak Djokovic faced a challenging first-round match at Roland Garros against French player Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. Djokovic, making his 82nd Grand Slam main draw appearance, managed to secure a victory after a tough battle, winning 5-7, 7-5, 6-1, 6-4. This win allowed Djokovic to advance to the second round in Paris.

Djokovic’s victory marked his 80th win out of 82 opening matches at Grand Slam events. Notably, he has not lost a first match at a Grand Slam since the 2006 Australian Open. With a perfect record of 22-0 in opening matches on the terre battue, Djokovic holds the most Roland-Garros first-round wins without a loss in the Open era. Additionally, he boasts a 13-0 record against French players in Paris.

In his upcoming match, Djokovic will face Valentin Royer as he aims to continue his unbeaten streak against French opponents in Paris. Despite initial struggles and being down a set against Perricard, Djokovic displayed resilience and skill to secure the win.

Djokovic faced difficulties early in the match, failing to convert break points against Perricard’s strong serves. However, he managed to turn the tide in his favor, eventually breaking Perricard three more times to secure his spot in the next round. Djokovic’s victory came after a hard-fought battle lasting 2 hours and 51 minutes.
