The NRAI National Judges Course 2026, part of the NRAI Education Program, is currently taking place at the Goldfinch Hotel in Delhi NCR until April 26th. The event has attracted aspiring and current technical officials from across the country.
The opening ceremony, held on Wednesday, saw the presence of Pawankumar Singh, NRAI’s Secretary General, and Rajiv Bhatia, NRAI’s Secretary, who inaugurated the course. Leading the program are experts Dhiraj Singh and Arun Wareshi, providing guidance on the technical and practical aspects of officiating in shooting sports.
This initiative is a step towards enhancing India’s shooting sport technical ecosystem by training competent judges. Participants will also have the opportunity to progress to the upcoming ISSF ‘B’ Judges Course scheduled for June 2026.
Addressing the participants, Pawan Kumar Singh emphasized the crucial role of judges and juries in ensuring fairness, integrity, and smooth event organization. He highlighted the significance of skilled technical officials in maintaining international standards, especially with shooting being a prominent Olympic sport in India.
Reflecting on NRAI’s history, Singh mentioned the organization’s establishment in 1951 by notable figures like G.V. Mavalankar, Lal Bahadur Shastri, G.B. Pant, and Yashwantrao Chavan. Celebrating 75 years of NRAI, he reiterated the commitment to upholding the institution’s vision and values.
Looking ahead, Singh outlined NRAI’s goal of introducing shooting to 750,000 new school students this year to expand the sport’s base and unearth talent nationwide. Trained judges and officials will play a crucial role in supporting this growth and ensuring well-organized competitions at all levels.
The NRAI National Judges Course plays a vital role in establishing a robust, professional officiating framework, aligning Indian shooting sports with global standards and preparing the next generation of technical officials.
