The National Testing Agency (NTA) has adjusted the timing for the Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate courses (CUET-UG) 2026 following a technical issue that caused delays at some centers on May 30. The NTA attributed the delay to a technical glitch on the part of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the service provider. However, the NTA confirmed that the problem has been resolved, ensuring that all candidates receive full compensatory time.
Revised timings for the exams have been released by the NTA, with the afternoon session now scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. instead of 3:00 p.m., and candidates in the morning session allowed to exit only after completing the full paper. The NTA expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to students and parents and provided a helpline number and email support for candidates experiencing difficulties.
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) aims to offer equal opportunities to candidates nationwide, particularly those from rural and remote areas, facilitating better connections with universities. By conducting a single examination, candidates can access a broad range of universities for admissions. Registration for CUET-UG 2026 commenced in early April, following the participation of over 13.54 lakh students in CEUT-UG 2025, which included exams in 13 languages across 300 centers nationwide.
