The Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) initiated a citizen awareness campaign regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, urging voters in urban areas to confirm their details in the 2002 voter lists. The CEO mentioned that the office is currently engaged in mapping and verifying voters in the 2025 rolls using the 2002 list as a reference. Voters are encouraged to check their names in both the 2025 and 2002 lists and provide necessary information to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
In line with the Election Commission’s directives, the 2002 voter list will serve as the baseline for updating the 2025 list. The CEO advised voters to ensure their names are correctly listed and suggested providing family members’ details if needed for mapping. No documentation or Aadhaar card is necessary for this process, as clarified by CEO Gopalan.
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is progressing well, with about 90% of the voter list mapping completed. Efforts are ongoing to cover the remaining voters, aiming for 100% accuracy in the electoral rolls. BLOs are actively reaching out to voters for verification, matching details like names, ages, polling stations, and EPIC information during the process.
Nearly 8% of the remaining 10% voters are expected to be mapped soon, ensuring comprehensive correction and verification of the electoral rolls. The CEO highlighted the role of BLOs in contacting voters and verifying their details, emphasizing the importance of accurate voter information for the upcoming elections.
