Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the significance of B.R. Ambedkar’s ideology during a state-level celebration in Jayadev Bhawan. He announced plans for an Ambedkar Bhawan in Kharavel Nagar, Bhubaneswar, instructing the preparation of a Detailed Project Report by the General Administration and Public Grievance department. Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the importance of building a society based on equality and justice as a tribute to Babasaheb.
The Chief Minister credited the state government’s efforts for the development of Dalits, tribals, and backward classes to Dr. Ambedkar’s vision. He stressed the necessity of uplifting marginalized sections for achieving a prosperous Odisha. Mentioning the allocation of over Rs 6,649 crore in the 2026–27 budget for the development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, he also highlighted the focus on Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups.
Addressing recent advancements in reservation systems in engineering and medical fields, Chief Minister Majhi praised the state government’s inclusive approach, stating that talent transcends caste or religion. He acknowledged the historical neglect faced by Ambedkar despite his pivotal role in shaping the Constitution and promoting national unity. The Chief Minister commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to restore Ambedkar’s legacy and honor, including the development of key sites associated with Ambedkar’s life as “Panchteerth.”
