Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted his government’s focus on creating job opportunities for locals through tourism development, particularly by promoting the “Orange Economy” in the state. Speaking at an event at the Lingaraj Temple, he underscored the significance of cultural-based economy initiatives. Majhi noted the historical connection between Somnath and Lingaraj temples, symbolizing the unity of India’s spiritual heritage.
At the event commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Somnath Temple’s reconstruction, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of preserving Indian culture and enhancing Saivite shrines statewide. He praised the reconstruction of the Somnath Temple as a pivotal moment in India’s cultural restoration, drawing parallels to the current cultural resurgence under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Majhi highlighted the resilience of Indian heritage against historical challenges, emphasizing the enduring faith that has led to the revival of temples throughout history.
Referencing Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s role in the Somnath Temple’s reconstruction, Majhi echoed PM Modi’s vision of combining development with heritage preservation. He cited ongoing projects in Odisha, such as the Ekamra Kshetra development and the proposed Shri Jagannath Museum, as steps towards establishing the state as India’s cultural hub. The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to the “Orange Economy” and leveraging tourism for local employment generation, aligning with the national goal of progress and heritage conservation.
