Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi recently launched and laid foundation stones for 187 projects totaling around Rs 1,330.24 crore in Keonjhar district. These initiatives aim to enhance the region’s development and transportation infrastructure. Among the projects inaugurated was a new ‘Ama Bus’ depot constructed at a cost of Rs 17 crore, along with the commencement of 25 modern e-buses in the district.
Foundation stones were also laid for 62 projects valued at approximately Rs 705 crore across various locations in Keonjhar. Additionally, 24 completed projects worth Rs 251 crore were inaugurated during the event. Chief Minister Majhi announced a Rs 375 crore package for 101 new projects in Keonjhar to further boost the district’s progress.
Addressing the audience, the Chief Minister emphasized Keonjhar’s historical contributions to the state and highlighted the district’s recent development strides under his administration. He revealed plans for a mega steel plant in its final stages, aiming to transform Keonjhar into a significant industrial center. The Chief Minister expressed optimism that these endeavors would enhance infrastructure and elevate living standards for Keonjhar residents.
In his remarks on the e-bus services rollout, Chief Minister Majhi underscored the active involvement of women in the project, serving as drivers and guides. He mentioned that student and worker communities would benefit from affordable fares and digital payment options. The e-bus initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 330–390 tonnes annually, promoting environmental sustainability. Moreover, plans are underway to expand this service to other cities, with a substantial allocation of Rs 238 crore for maintenance.
