Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the signing of two crucial Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with HCLTech and Sarvam AI, aiming to revolutionize the state’s industry and technology sectors. The agreements, inked at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Centre, are set to boost Odisha’s technology-driven economic development and create numerous job opportunities for the state’s educated youth. HCLTech is slated to establish a Global Delivery Centre in Odisha, enhancing the state’s IT landscape globally.
The collaboration between HCLTech and Sarvam AI will see the establishment of an AI-optimized Data Centre in Odisha, within an indigenous AI Park to be set up by the state government. The proposed HCLTech Global Delivery Centre, involving an investment of approximately Rs 730 crore, is expected to significantly strengthen Odisha’s digital infrastructure and provide employment for over 6,000 skilled individuals from the state. These initiatives are projected to attract investments worth nearly Rs 15,000 crore over the next five years.
Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the shift towards indigenous AI platforms, emphasizing the capabilities of Sarvam AI in various sectors like agriculture, healthcare, education, and defense. He underlined Odisha’s diversification into emerging industries such as semiconductors, AI, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and IT, showcasing the state’s commitment to innovation and growth. Sarvam AI’s success in developing AI solutions in regional languages, including Odia, is a significant milestone for the state’s technological advancement.
With the establishment of the AI Park and AI-optimized Data Centre, Odisha is poised to become a hub for artificial intelligence services in regional languages. The Chief Minister praised the state’s streamlined processes, including the Industrial Policy and single-window clearance mechanism, which have expedited project commencements. Assuring full government support to investors, he invited large-scale investments into Odisha, signaling a favorable climate for economic growth.
