Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has shown deep concern for the Odia individuals stranded in the Middle East due to the ongoing crisis. He has instructed Chief Secretary Anu Garg to oversee the situation and ensure their safe return. A high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary was convened following the Chief Minister’s directive to address the crisis impact.
Pritish Panda, Officer on Special Duty at the Odisha Parivar Directorate, has been appointed as the nodal officer to coordinate assistance for the stranded Odia people. The Odisha Parivar Directorate has received approximately 200 calls from Odia individuals in the Middle East seeking help, and is collaborating with the Ministry of External Affairs for their safe repatriation.
Efforts are underway to assist Odia residents through a toll-free helpline number provided by the MEA. The Odisha Parivar Directorate is also in touch with Odia associations in cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Bahrain to gather real-time updates on the situation of Odia residents in those areas.
