Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated 204 Godabarish Mishra Model Primary Schools in Khordha district to bolster primary education. Emphasizing the importance of a strong educational foundation, CM Majhi highlighted the ‘Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Vidyalaya’ Scheme aimed at modernizing primary education. This initiative, with an investment of Rs 12,000 crore, focuses on providing quality education through advanced technologies.
The scheme, initiated in January at Banpur in Khordha district, plans to establish 2,200 model primary schools across Odisha. The Chief Minister had earlier laid the foundation stone for 118 schools and added 204 more schools in 30 districts during the recent event. These schools, modeled after Bakul Bana Vidyalaya in Puri district, aim to equip students with practical skills for the evolving job market.
CM Majhi stressed the need for holistic education, focusing on employability, problem-solving, and creativity. He highlighted various government initiatives like the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, PM SHRI Schools, and schemes to prevent dropouts and provide mid-day meals. The government has recruited 26,615 staff to address the staff shortage and plans to appoint 45,000 more teachers in the coming years to strengthen the education sector.
