Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi of Odisha has instructed state officials to crack down on traders causing artificial shortages of cooking gas and essential goods in the state. This directive came during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan to address the impact of the Gulf conflict on commodity availability. Officials confirmed that there is no shortage of petroleum products, gas, or essential items in Odisha.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the need to prevent artificial shortages and combat black marketing of essential goods. He urged officials to conduct raids across the state to tackle unscrupulous traders. Additionally, he stressed the importance of maintaining sufficient fertilizer stocks for the Rabi crop season.
To alleviate public concerns, the Chief Minister called for widespread awareness campaigns to reassure the public about the situation. India’s reliance on Gulf countries for petroleum products and LNG has raised concerns amid the ongoing conflict in the region. Chief Secretary Anu Garg provided a detailed overview of the government’s actions to ensure a steady supply of petrol, cooking gas, and fertilizers in the state.
