The Odisha government has partnered with IHI Corporation, a prominent Japanese industrial firm, and the ACME Group from Gurugram to enhance cooperation in clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and industrial growth. This collaboration aims to establish large-scale clean energy and industrial initiatives in Odisha, utilizing the state’s resources, industrial environment, and policy backing. The projects are anticipated to promote technology transfer, sustainable industrialization, and create numerous job opportunities.
The proposed projects are set to attract a total investment of Rs 67,000 crore and provide employment for approximately 7,000 individuals in Odisha. These projects include a 0.4 MTPA green ammonia project at Gopalpur–Tata SEZ with an investment of Rs 20,000 crore, creating 3,400 jobs, and a methanol project with an investment of Rs 12,000 crore. Additionally, a 0.8 MTPA green ammonia project at Paradeep is planned with an investment of Rs 34,000 crore, offering employment to 3,600 people.
The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation was attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary, senior state officials, World Bank Group members, and distinguished representatives from Japan. The event also saw the participation of senior executives from IHI Corporation, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc., and other Japanese enterprises in Odisha, as well as senior officials from the ACME Group and representatives from the Embassy of Japan.
The interaction between Odisha and Japanese business delegates aimed to strengthen economic ties and showcase Odisha’s expanding industrial landscape, top-notch infrastructure, and investor-friendly governance. Discussions revolved around opportunities in various sectors such as green hydrogen, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, shipbuilding, machinery, steel, chemicals, logistics, industrial infrastructure, and renewable energy. Chief Minister Majhi highlighted Japan’s reputation as a trusted partner in development and investment globally, emphasizing the significance of the collaboration with IHI Corporation and ACME Group in Odisha’s industrial progress.
