Amid an indefinite strike by the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA), the Odisha Government has appealed to the protesting doctors to end their strike, return to work immediately, and engage in discussions. The government emphasized that healthcare services in the state are operating smoothly and without disruption.
Prior to the commencement of the strike, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mukesh Mahaling, along with health officials, engaged in detailed discussions with OMSA representatives. The government has already addressed several demands of the doctors, including cadre restructuring, Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP), and various incentives to support their professional growth.
The government reiterated its commitment to addressing doctors’ concerns and urged them to prioritize patient care by resuming their duties promptly. It assured the doctors that constructive discussions on their demands would be held once they return to work. Emphasizing the importance of uninterrupted healthcare services, the government urged the doctors to consider the well-being of patients.
In line with the principle that “Service is the highest duty,” the government appealed to the doctors to end their strike and continue providing essential medical services. It warned that any disruption to patient care could lead to necessary actions being taken. The doctors initiated the strike to raise a 10-point charter of demands, seeking redressal from the State Government.
