Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati expressed his backing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plea for “economic self-defense” to fortify the nation’s economic stability and security. Emphasizing the importance of economic resilience and self-reliance, the Governor highlighted the necessity of public involvement and responsible consumption in bolstering the country’s economy. Governor Kambhampati lauded Odisha Lok Bhavan’s sustainability efforts, mentioning that all vehicles in his convoy are electric, and the campus operates on solar energy, setting an example as a net-zero campus.
Taking a step towards sustainability, the Governor announced plans to urge state university Vice-Chancellors to observe a weekly “Combustion Engine-Free Day” and encouraged the adoption of bicycles, electric vehicles, and public transport by students and youth. He also called on government officials to reduce unnecessary use of official vehicles to support fuel conservation efforts. Referring to PM Modi’s advice on postponing gold purchases and cutting down on edible oil use, Governor Kambhampati stressed the significance of saving fuel, promoting local products, and reducing edible oil consumption as crucial steps in strengthening the nation.
Governor Kambhampati appealed for collective action, urging citizens to follow the Prime Minister’s guidance and participate in the national mission with a sense of responsibility and patriotism. He emphasized that every effort towards fuel conservation and responsible consumption contributes to the nation’s economic resilience and future prosperity, fostering a self-reliant and secure India for future generations.
