Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, announced the integration of PM-Surya Ghar Yojana with various housing schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY), to emphasize renewable energy and affordable housing. This initiative aims to offer solar power benefits to beneficiaries alongside clean and affordable electricity, reducing their electricity bills. Under the scheme, beneficiaries will receive subsidies for rooftop solar installations, with a focus on public safety measures in urban and rural areas.
Singh Deo highlighted the importance of providing 24×7 clean and affordable electricity to residents through the integration of PM-Surya Ghar with state housing programs. The scheme offers subsidies for rooftop solar installations, ensuring that beneficiaries under PMAY and other housing schemes benefit from solar power. Additionally, the Deputy CM directed DISCOMs to prioritize public safety measures and infrastructure projects to enhance the reliability and sustainability of power supply in Odisha.

These decisions included a significant underground cabling project, preparation of safety reports, and various measures to improve safety and infrastructure in urban and rural areas.
