The Odisha Vigilance conducted simultaneous house searches at various locations linked to the Executive Engineer of CADA, Sambalpur Division, on suspicion of possessing assets disproportionate to his known income. The searches, carried out at seven places across different districts, included the engineer’s residential properties in Sambalpur, Kataka, Baleshwar, and Malkangiri.
A senior official mentioned that the searches targeted properties belonging to Padmalochan Nayak, the Executive Engineer, at different locations. The operation involved seven teams of Odisha Vigilance, comprising several officers and supporting staff, acting on Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur. During the searches, assets worth crores, including multiple buildings, plots, gold ornaments, cash, foreign currency notes, vehicles, and machinery, were reportedly found in possession of Nayak and his family members.
The official also disclosed that Nayak is suspected of making multiple visits to Sri Lanka and engaging in gambling activities, which are currently under investigation. The accused Executive Engineer is being interrogated to determine the source of the assets discovered during the searches, with authorities anticipating the uncovering of more assets as the searches continue.
