Oliver Glasner, aged 51, has been appointed as the new head coach of Nottingham Forest, succeeding Vítor Pereira. Glasner, who previously managed Crystal Palace, joins Forest after a successful tenure that saw him win the FA Cup and UEFA Conference League titles. Nottingham Forest faced managerial instability last season, going through four permanent managers before Glasner’s appointment.
Glasner expressed his commitment to Forest’s long-term vision, turning down offers from other European clubs to take on this project. He highlighted the club’s strong vision and trust in his abilities as key factors in his decision. The new head coach is set to lead a talented squad that includes players like Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Chris Wood.
Despite the squad’s strengths, Glasner faces the challenge of managing without midfielder Elliot Anderson, who recently completed a record-breaking transfer to Manchester City. Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis endorsed Glasner’s appointment, praising his track record of success and leadership qualities. Marinakis emphasized Glasner’s winning mentality and the attractive style of football his teams play.
Glasner’s first official match in charge will be Nottingham Forest’s Premier League season opener against Leeds United at home in August.
