Olympians Jinson Johnson and Anish Bhanwala will be the main attractions at the 63rd Fit India Sundays on Cycle event on March 1. Johnson, a former Olympian and national record holder in the 1500m, will participate in Visakhapatnam. He has a remarkable track record, including gold and silver medals at the Asian Games.
Anish Bhanwala, a Commonwealth Games gold medalist, will join accomplished fencer Taniksha Khatri in the New Delhi cycling event. The event, organized in collaboration with the Fire and Emergency Departments of the Ministry of Home Affairs, will take place at the Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Swimming Pool Complex.
The event will also feature Nancy, a Fit India ambassador, and Akanksha Tagotra, a renowned Zumba instructor. Launched in December 2024, Fit India Sundays on Cycle has gained immense popularity, with millions participating nationwide.
Fit India Sundays on Cycle is a part of the larger Fit India Movement initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019. The weekly event is organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in partnership with various sports organizations.
The cycling drive occurs across all States and Union Territories, including various sports centers. Alongside cycling, the event includes yoga sessions, rope skipping displays, martial arts demonstrations, and cultural performances. The campaign aims to promote cycling as a sustainable and community-oriented fitness activity.
