Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with National Conference ministers and legislators, traveled by bus to Dachigam National Park for a day-long review of the UT government’s performance over the past 19 months. Omar Abdullah shared this information on social media, emphasizing the importance of assessing the achievements and challenges during this period. He clarified that the meeting’s venue was not changed abruptly but was planned in advance at the chosen location.
The media’s attention towards the meeting has intensified, with speculations arising due to Omar Abdullah’s silence on the agenda. Independent MLAs supporting the NC government were invited, while the Congress, with six supporting MLAs, was not included. Omar Abdullah mentioned keeping a cabinet berth vacant for the Congress, expressing openness to their nomination for the position.
While the NC made lunch arrangements for the attending MLAs at Dachigam, the Congress stated its reluctance to join the UT government without the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood. Dachigam National Park, known for its restricted access, hosted the meeting in a rest house with historical significance, previously visited by late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi during her trips to Kashmir.
