Opposition parties in Punjab have escalated their criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party-led government, citing a deteriorating law and order situation following two recent explosions near high-security areas. The first blast occurred near the cantonment area in Khasa, Amritsar, with no reported casualties. Another explosion took place near the Border Security Force’s Punjab Frontier headquarters in Jalandhar earlier the same evening, suspected to be caused by a scooter catching fire.
Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia condemned the blasts, labeling them as a serious warning for the state administration. He expressed concerns about the response of the police and Intelligence agencies, questioning the preparedness and law enforcement capabilities in the region. Majithia emphasized the need for a focused approach towards maintaining law and order, especially in a border state like Punjab.
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also voiced apprehension over the incidents, highlighting the alarming law and order situation in Punjab. He stressed the importance of identifying those responsible for such acts and taking swift legal action against them to ensure the safety of citizens and their property. Congress leader Abhishek Dutt echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the sensitivity of Punjab as a state and the imperative for effective governance and security measures.
