Opposition leaders criticized Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his comments accusing the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress of favoring graveyards over Hindu temples’ development. Adityanath claimed that funds meant for temple development were diverted to graveyards during the SP’s tenure.
In response, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Ameeque Jamei dismissed the allegations, stating that diverting funds to graveyards would lead to corruption. He also criticized the government’s handling of investigations into temple donations and alleged irregularities.
CPI-M General Secretary M.A. Baby accused CM Yogi of fueling communal divisions and criticized his governance style. Meanwhile, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Manan Mishra supported Adityanath’s statements, claiming that the Opposition was sensationalizing issues related to temple irregularities.
