The Opposition parties in Odisha, including the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress, have raised concerns about the worsening law-and-order conditions in the state. The BJD, during a press conference, accused the government of failing to maintain order, citing a surge in violent incidents. The party highlighted recent violent events and criticized the BJP-led government for the breakdown of law and order.
Party spokesperson Dr. Lenin Mohanty emphasized the government’s inability to enforce the rule of law, stating that the law-and-order situation in Odisha has significantly deteriorated. He pointed out instances of violence in various regions, attributing the escalation to the government’s inefficiency. The Biju Chhatra Janata Dal president, Ipsita Sahu, condemned the recent spate of violent incidents under the BJP administration, expressing concerns over public safety.
Sahu criticized the government for its failure to address the rising crime rate, citing the admission by the Odisha Director General of Police regarding public insecurity. The Opposition Congress also joined the criticism, staging a protest against the escalating violence in the state. Congress leaders accused the government of neglecting its duty to maintain law and order, alleging a lack of action against criminals and a rise in criminal affiliations with certain political groups.
