Osmania University has decided to reschedule the degree examinations set for May 28 due to Bakrid (Eid-ul-Adha). The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kumar Molugaram, confirmed that there are no exams scheduled on May 27 in consideration of Bakrid holidays as declared by the Telangana Government. Any changes in the Bakrid date will lead to a corresponding rescheduling of the exams by the university.
Further updates regarding the revised exam schedule will be available on the official Osmania University website. This decision follows a request by AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi to postpone the BA, BCom, and BSc degree exams on May 28, coinciding with Bakrid. Owaisi highlighted the exams scheduled for that day, expressing concerns about the students’ disadvantage if exams are held on Eid day.
The moon sighting committee announced that May 19 will mark the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah, with Bakrid falling on May 28. Consequently, the Telangana government is expected to declare May 28 as a public holiday. The commencement of Dhul-Hijjah signifies the start of the annual Hajj pilgrimage, culminating in Bakrid, the second most significant festival in Islam.
