Outgoing Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi commended the Indian soldiers for upholding the nation’s pride globally through their loyalty, courage, and discipline. General Dwivedi’s illustrious military career spanning over four decades concluded with ceremonial events. He received a Guard of Honour at the South Block lawns in New Delhi, marking the end of his tenure.
Expressing gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him, General Dwivedi visited the National War Memorial to pay tribute to fallen soldiers. He reflected on his journey in uniform, stating that serving in the Indian Army for more than forty years has been the greatest privilege of his life. General Dwivedi emphasized that the strength of the Indian Army lies in its soldiers, commanders, veterans, families, and the trust of the people.
Acknowledging the soldiers’ contributions, General Dwivedi highlighted their role in counter-terrorism operations and international missions. He praised their performance in maintaining India’s reputation globally, from the jungles of Congo to earthquake-stricken Venezuela. General Dwivedi also mentioned the Army’s preparedness and vigilance along the northern and western borders, emphasizing the importance of clear objectives and discipline in national security.
Emphasizing the importance of synergy among the Tri-Services, General Dwivedi stressed joint operations and integrated warfare for the future. He noted the ongoing transformation initiatives in the Indian Army, focusing on modernization, technology absorption, and human resource management. General Dwivedi reiterated the Army’s commitment to the welfare of soldiers, engagement with veterans, and support for families, highlighting their collective strength.
Handing over the responsibility to General Dhiraj Seth, General Dwivedi expressed confidence in the Indian Army’s future under his leadership. He affirmed his belief in the Army’s ability to uphold traditions, professionalism, and readiness for future challenges. General Dwivedi extended his gratitude to all soldiers, veterans, families, and citizens of India, wishing them happiness, prosperity, and well-being.
