More than 11.20 lakh students have registered in Gujarat during the initial two days of the state government’s ‘Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav and Shala Praveshotsav 2026’ drive. This enrollment initiative has covered over 17,000 villages and nearly 25,000 schools. On the second day alone, programs were conducted in 8,173 villages and 11,987 schools.
The campaign has attracted a total of 29,682 dignitaries, including ministers and senior officials, who visited schools to welcome and motivate children to enroll. The combined data from the first two days reveals that the campaign has reached 17,338 villages and 24,716 schools, with the participation of 60,184 public representatives and officials in various events. The government confirmed that more than 11.20 lakh students have been enrolled so far.
The initiative, inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at B.N. High School in Vadnagar, aims to enhance literacy levels and ensure the enrollment of all eligible children in the education system. On Wednesday, over 62,000 children commenced their educational journey by joining Anganwadis and pre-primary institutions. Additionally, more than 1.40 lakh enrollments were recorded in Balvatika classes against 139,925 eligible children.
Gujarat reported the enrollment of over 34,000 students in Class 1, 1,96,755 in Class 9, and 1,01,759 in Class 11 during the campaign. Furthermore, 21,892 students identified through the state’s ‘Back to School Survey’ were admitted to educational institutions. The government facilitated new transport services to 847 schools to enhance access to education, particularly for students in remote areas.
