More than five lakh unused items have been removed from government healthcare facilities in Gujarat during the ‘Namo Swachhata Abhiyan’, freeing up 1,677 rooms for future use. The campaign, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, is ongoing from July 1 to 7 in various health institutions.
Since the campaign’s start, 5,49,897 unused items have been identified in over 12,000 healthcare institutions. Out of these, 5,03,329 items have been disposed of on-site, with the rest being handled following proper procedures. This effort has led to the evacuation of 1,677 rooms for potential future enhancements in patient care.
On the sixth day alone, more than 38,000 unused items were found in health institutions, with over 4.47 lakh items disposed of on-site. Additionally, more than 23,000 items, including furniture and medical equipment, were repaired. The campaign aims to enhance the functionality of government healthcare facilities through cleaning, repairs, and safety checks.
