During a weekend special drunk driving enforcement drive in Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police Commissionerates, more than 700 individuals were apprehended for driving under the influence of alcohol. Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a two-day operation on June 5 and 6, resulting in the capture of 422 drivers found intoxicated while operating vehicles. Similarly, Cyberabad Traffic Police detained 284 offenders during their weekend enforcement drive against drunk driving.
The apprehended individuals in Hyderabad included 347 two-wheeler riders, 33 three-wheeler drivers, and 42 four-wheeler drivers. Offenders were classified based on their Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels, with 91 individuals having a BAC level between 30 and 50. Moreover, 176 offenders had BAC levels of 51-100 mg/100 ml, 73 had levels of 101-150/100 ml, and 40 had levels of 151-200/100 ml.
Authorities emphasized zero tolerance for drunk driving violations, with the Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, affirming the continuation of the special enforcement drives. In Cyberabad, 247 individuals riding two-wheelers, three three-wheelers, and 34 four-wheelers were found to be driving under the influence. Offenders in Cyberabad had varying BAC levels, with penalties awaiting all offenders upon court proceedings.
