More than nine lakh suggestions have been received and documented regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) implementation, with around 90% expressing strong support for it, as informed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to his cabinet colleagues. State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Chaitanya Kumar Kashyap shared that support for the UCC has come from both men and women of the minority community, including many Muslim women.
The compilation of remaining issues is underway, and the draft of the Uniform Civil Code is expected to be finalized by July 5 after considering all feasible suggestions received by June 30. Describing the UCC outreach as a significant public campaign, Minister Kashyap highlighted the extensive nature of the exercise, which garnered over nine lakh suggestions through SMSs sent to people across various sections of society.
A high-power committee on UCC, led by Supreme Court judge Ranjana Desai, is meticulously examining all suggestions to prepare the final draft of the Bill by July 5. Minister Kashyap emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusive governance through widespread consultations, noting the broad acceptance of the Uniform Civil Code, especially among minority communities in Madhya Pradesh. The government aims to introduce the Civil Code Bill in the upcoming Assembly session, incorporating public feedback in a time-bound manner.
