Padma Shri awardee and entrepreneur Shashi Soni endorsed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s suggestion for citizens to refrain from purchasing gold for a year and conserve fuel. Soni emphasized that this advice is not to instill fear but to prepare for potential repercussions from the West Asia crisis. She highlighted the importance of safeguarding the country amidst global uncertainties like wars and changing conditions.
Soni clarified that reducing excessive gold purchases will not result in losses for individuals. She encouraged buying gold only for essential purposes like weddings, emphasizing that accumulating less gold can contribute to strengthening the country’s economy. Regarding fuel conservation, Soni pointed out the need to address issues such as multiple vehicle ownership and individual commuting habits.
The entrepreneur stressed the significance of saving fuel to reduce dependency on other nations and prevent shortages within the country. Soni suggested carpooling and utilizing public transport as effective ways to cut down fuel consumption. She also supported PM Modi’s recommendation for schools to conduct online classes, citing the success of virtual learning during the Covid lockdown.
Soni proposed the adoption of ‘work from home’ practices for offices to save fuel and enhance productivity. While acknowledging challenges for factories in implementing remote work, she highlighted the potential benefits of reduced energy consumption and improved efficiency. Soni expressed confidence in PM Modi’s leadership, stating that the country stands united in supporting measures aimed at strengthening national resilience.
