Pakistan secured a 32-run victory over the USA in their Group A clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Colombo. This win marked Pakistan’s first victory against the USA in T20I cricket. In the match, Pakistan posted their highest total of 190/9 against the USA, surpassing their previous best of 159/7 in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Sahibzada Farhan’s 73 runs became the highest individual score by a Pakistan batter against the USA. Previously, Babar Azam held this record with 44 runs in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Usman Tariq’s bowling figures of 3-27 were the best for Pakistan against the USA, surpassing Mohmmad Aamer’s record of 25-1 in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
During the match, Pakistan’s spinners bowled 16 overs, marking the second occasion when spinners bowled 16 or more overs for Pakistan in a T20I innings. Additionally, Pakistan’s batters hit 5 sixes in the powerplay, the most by them in this phase in all T20Is. Pakistan’s total of 190/9, led by Farhan and a crucial partnership with captain Babar Azam, proved too much for the USA, who finished on 158/8 despite efforts from Shayan Jahangir and Shubham Ranjane.
