Pakistan has launched fresh military strikes in various Afghan provinces, including Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, and Paktika, resulting in civilian casualties, including women and children, as reported by Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid. These attacks have escalated tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, with the Taliban denouncing them as violations of Afghan sovereignty. Mujahid criticized the Pakistani military for targeting civilian homes in some areas, leading to the deaths of innocent civilians, while also striking uninhabited regions.
The Taliban spokesperson condemned the assaults by Pakistani forces, emphasizing the timing of the attacks during the final days of Ramadan and on the eve of Eid al-Fitr. He expressed outrage at what he described as a disregard for human principles and moral values by the Pakistani military regime. Mujahid assured that the Islamic Emirate strongly condemns these actions and vowed that such injustices will not go unanswered. Additionally, Mujahid accused Pakistani military aircraft of setting fire to the fuel storage of Kam Air, a private airline near Kandahar International Airport in Afghanistan.
In a recent development, it was reported that Taliban forces allegedly killed 30 Pakistani soldiers during clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The fighting occurred in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, specifically in the Shorabak district, where Taliban fighters purportedly captured a Pakistani military outpost. According to Taliban defence ministry spokesperson Enayatullah Khwarazmi, the outpost was destroyed by explosives after its capture, resulting in the deaths of 30 Pakistani soldiers, including reinforcements.
The ongoing hostilities between Afghanistan and Pakistan began with retaliatory operations by Taliban-led Afghan forces against Pakistani military installations on February 27, following Pakistani actions targeting militants within Afghan territory on February 21. In response to what Pakistan described as “unprovoked firing” by Afghan forces across multiple border sectors, Pakistan initiated ‘Operation Ghazab lil-Haq’ (Righteous Fury).
