The Pakistan Cricket Board has revealed a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia starting on January 29 at Gaddafi Stadium. Salman Ali Agha will lead the team in this crucial series before the T20 World Cup 2026. Former captains Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi return to the T20I squad after missing the previous series against Sri Lanka.
Babar Azam, who faced a rough patch in the BBL season, scoring 202 runs in 11 games with a low strike rate of 103.06, is eager to perform better on home ground. The team’s batting strength lies in players like Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, and Sahibzada Farhan, while the absence of Mohammed Rizwan raises questions about his T20I future.
Shadab Khan, continuing his comeback journey, will be part of the spin-bowling lineup alongside Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, and Usman Tariq. The fast bowling attack will be led by Shaheen, Naseem Shah, and Mohammad Wasim Junior, with the notable absence of Harris Rauf, who has been exceptional in the Big Bash League.
