Pakistan continues to grapple with HIV outbreaks, with 331 children testing positive for HIV in Taunsa between November 2024 and October 2025. Despite government claims of cracking down on the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, undercover footage by the BBC revealed alarming practices such as syringe reuse and unsafe injections.

The former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister expressed concern over widespread irresponsible healthcare practices leading to a rise in bloodborne diseases across the country. The reuse of disposable syringes, unscreened blood transfusions, and unhygienic medical practices contribute to the escalating health crisis in Pakistan.

The recurring cycle of outrage, investigations, and temporary actions following HIV outbreaks has been observed in various regions of Pakistan. The lack of public awareness and accountability, coupled with ongoing criminal practices in healthcare settings, perpetuates the risk of infectious diseases spreading unchecked.
