The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan has reported that the death toll from monsoon rain, flooding, and landslides has reached 107 since June 26. In addition, 344 individuals have been injured in monsoon-related incidents, with 447 houses damaged and 269 livestock lost, as per Pakistan’s Samaa TV.

Seven fatalities were recorded in Punjab, two in Sindh, and one each in Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within the last 24 hours. Samaa TV highlighted that 25 individuals sustained injuries, with 20 in Punjab, three in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and two in Sindh.

The NDMA has advised residents, especially those in vulnerable areas, to stay alert and adhere to official safety guidelines as monsoon rains persist in various parts of the country. The casualties were mainly due to drowning and structural collapses, while injuries were a result of roof collapses and electrocution, as reported by Pakistan’s Dawn.

Three individuals, including a man, a woman, and a child, lost their lives in separate roof-collapse incidents in Lahore. Similarly, two individuals, a man, and a child died, and three others, including a woman and two children, were injured in a house roof collapse in Kasur district, Punjab.

A woman passed away due to a house roof collapse in Faisalabad, while a child drowned in rainwater in Gujranwala. In Pakistan-occupied Gilgit-Baltistan (PoGB), road access to various areas remains disrupted for the fourth consecutive day due to flash floods and glacial lake outburst floods (Glofs), hindering restoration efforts, local media stated.

Thousands of residents and tourists are stranded as road closures have cut off access to several valleys, leading to shortages of essential services like drinking water, electricity, and communication in flood-affected communities, according to Pakistan’s Dawn. Director General of the POGB Disaster Management Authority, Ataur Rehman Kakar, informed Dawn that between July 18 and July 21, PoGB witnessed record temperatures, causing rapid glacier melting and Glof incidents in multiple regions.
